Nigel, aged 58, from South West England, whose late wife Jax had Cadasil but died from cancer last year.
“As my wife had no symptoms, she lived her life as normal, choosing to ignore it.”
When my wife was first diagnosed with the Cadasil gene I was shocked, numb and worried. As my had wife no symptoms, she lived her life as normal, choosing to ignore it.
But for me as her husband it was always a worry as she was 14 years younger than me.
The thought of who would look after her if this vile condition progressed in later life as it did with her mum concerned me a lot.
My hope for the future is that doctors are able to find a way of altering the gene to stop it having any negative effects.
